Hyderabad: Students of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Raikode mandal, staged a protest at the mandal praja parishad office alleging the school incharge J. Archana was ill-treating them. The students alleged that they were not provided sufficient food.

Following the protests, Andole legislator Chanti Kranthi Kiran called them over the phone and persuaded them to return to the hostels where he would meet them. The students refused, following which the legislator along with district education officer Vijay Lakshmi visited them.

The students alleged that the staff took pictures of platesful of chicken being served but the food was taken away afterwards. They alleged that the rice, milk and other groceries which should be used in the hostel were being sold to outsiders.

Mr Kiran directed officials to hold an inquiry and punish the officials if they are found guilty. He told mediapersons that it was sad to know that teachers were exploiting the students by selling the groceries of the hostel and making the children work.
