KLIS reservoirs are brimming in Telangana

Officials have opened the gates at Medigadda and Annaram barrages and discharging the water downstream.

Karimnagar: All reservoirs and barrages that form part of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme are full, thanks to rain in the catchment areas and inflows from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Officials have opened the gates at Medigadda and Annaram barrages and discharging the water downstream. A mammoth 5.87 lakh cusecs was recorded at Medigadda barrage on Saturday, all of which was discharged by opening gates 12 to 75. The barrage has 4.51 tmc ft against its full capacity of 16.17 tmc ft.  

Nine gates have been opened at Annaram, which has 9.25 tmc ft against to its full capacity of 10.87 tmc ft. The Sundilla barrage, that is fed by small streams has 6.4 tmc ft against its full capacity of 8.83 tmc ft.

The 20-tmc capacity Yellampally reservoir on the Godavari has 10.69 tmc ft water. Kadem has 5.5 tmc ft against its full capacity of 7.6 tmc ft and is releasing 39,000 cusecs into the Godavari.
