Telangana: Continental denies charges
The hospital does not and indeed cannot be in any position to verify documents originating out of other countries.
Hyderabad: Continental Hospitals said that it has conducted all transplantations according to the law.
The hospital said in a statement, “The hospital would like to emphasis that all the transplants, including international transplants, were done as per the laws. In terms of transplants related to international patients, the hospital has worked with multiple facilitators. The hospital does not and indeed cannot be in any position to verify documents originating out of other countries. These documents are sent to the embassy/ high commission of the country of nationality of the patient for certification and thereafter to the DME for approval of the transplant. Post-receipt of the approval from the DME, the hospital conducts the transplant. Therefore, to reiterate, the hospital only forwards documents received by it to the appropriate authorities as set out above, and does not verify the documents.”
Continental Hospitals stated that it is proud of its growing organ transplant programme, which has achieved considerable success over the past one year. “This transplant programme has been undertaken following due process and requirements as set out under relevant laws.”
The hospital said that it has always been willing to cooperate with investigating authorities to bring this matter to its logical conclusion.
