Telangana to bring in public services law

The Act stipulates payment of compensation to applicants for delay in giving industrial approvals and delay in delivering public services.

Hyderabad: The state government is going all out to retain No.1 rank in  Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) this year.  To this end, it is planning to bring in the TS Right to Public Services Act.

The Act stipulates payment of compensation to applicants for delay in giving industrial approvals and delay in delivering public services.

Officials who delay approvals will be penalised accordingly. The state government identified 55 new services that should be covered under the new law.  The aim is to make government more industry-friendly and ensure faster delivery  of services.

Minister K.T. Rama Rao has been holding meetings with officials of all key departments to bring reforms in the approval process to retain the No. 1 rank.

The minister felt that bringing the Right to Public Services Act would help check delays in granting approvals and make officials accountable. The new services that will be included in the Act pertain to with the revenue, law, labour, factories, forest and environment, municipal adm-inistration and urban development, among others.
