Visakhapatnam: Vizag MP Kambhampati Haribabu has written a letter to Union Railway minister Suresh Prabhu, urging him to run the proposed Uday double decker between Vizag and Vijaywada at convenient times, and extend the Sambalpur-Allahabad train to Vizag.

“I thank you for taking a decision to introduce the double-decker train soon. The train would run successfully if the timings are suitable to the travelling public. A good number of passengers would make use of the service if the train leaves the city station in the early morning hour, so as to enable them arrive in Vijaywada around 11 am and complete their official work in the capital city. Again, the return train may leave in the evening hour,” he proposed.

The MP also demanded reduction of the journey time of the AP Express between Vizag and Delhi. The train is taking 36 hours to reach Delhi from Vizag and there was scope to reduce travel time by four hours, he said.

“There is a proposal to run a train between Sambalpur and Allahabad. I request you to extend the train service from Sambalpur to Vizag so that it will be beneficial for more people in Odisha and AP,” the letter read.
