Hyderabad: Techie held for cheating colleague
A case of cheating and criminal intimidation was registered against the accused and he has been taken into custody.
Hyderabad: A 26-year-old woman software engineer from Bhadradi Kothagudem working in an MNC in Hyderabad has alleged that a colleague deceived her on the pretext of marriage. The police said that the accused and the victim were in a live-in relationship for some time and later when she pressurised him for marriage, he revealed about his first marriage.
A case of cheating and criminal intimidation was registered against the accused and he has been taken into custody.
The victim, who is currently living in a hostel lodged a complaint with the Madhapur police on Tuesday. She said that since last August, she became friends with one J. Sanjeevulu, 32, of Jangaon, who is also a techie and her colleague, and they got into a relationship.
A few days later, Sanjeevulu proposed his love to her and asked her to marry him. The woman accepted his proposal. On October 5, 2017, he reportedly took her to Yadagirigutta where he forcibly had sex with her after promising to marry her.
Madhapur inspector Y. Nageshwar Rao said, “The accused lured her on the pretext of marriage and cheated her. Following the recent Supreme Court order, the Sections of rape do not apply as they had consensual sex. The accused has been booked for cheating.”and criminal intimidation and has been taken into custody for questioning.”
But a few days ago, as the woman pressurised him for marriage, Sanjeevulu told her that he was already married and therefore he could not marry her. Further, he started harassing her and also threatened her with dire consequences, she complained.
