Telangana builders strike over pending bills
The state government has to pay the builders around Rs 6,000 crore till the end of September, they said.
Hyderabad: Telangana builders’ association representatives met the chief secretary S.K. Joshi on Wednesday and informed him that unless the state government clears their pending bills they will not be unable to continue the ongoing works.
Over the pending bills the builders have already stopped all the works related to various departments. Association president D.V.N. Reddy, vice-president H.N. Reddy and others met the chief secretary.
The state government has to pay the builders around Rs 6,000 crore till the end of September, they said. Due to the non-payment of the bills the contractors have stopped the works of all ongoing projects that were slated to begin from October 2.
They said that the payments of the bills have been pending for a year now. Mr H.N. Reddy said that the work in the rural areas has also stopped.
