Hyderabad: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundarrajan on Thursday told vice-chancellors of universities in Telangana state to promote the concept of “love and learn” and “enjoy and educate”.

She asked VCs to strengthen libraries and encourage use of digital resources and said that universities must also concentrate on health of the students by preparing “health profiles”, develop a nutritional index of students in the state and include yoga in the curriculum.

Dr Soundarrajan felt that universities must encourage “research and development” activities and prepare a “data bank” of research papers and activities being undertaken by each university.

The Governor stressed the need to develop job-oriented courses and also undertake improvements in making the teaching-learning process more interesting and stress-free for students.

She said, “The growing role of technology and professional courses in universities must be tapped to encourage more women to take up the courses and also contribute to economic growth.”

Dr Soundarrajan also exhorted universities to expedite the provision of study opportunities to NRIs so as to tap the large revenue potential to meet growth plans.
