Chennai: Traffic and Transportation Forum (TTF), Chennai, has demanded conversion of abandoned subway near Alandur Metro Station into a mini vehicular subway.

Sending a letter to the National Highway Authority of India,  the Forum said that  the people were currently struggling to reach the GST road covering additional two kms.

The travellers in between St.Thomas mount Railway Station and Medavakkam junction (Adambakkam, Vanuvampet, Puzhuthivakkam , Madippakkam, Kizhkattalai,Kovilambakkam and Nanmangalam) either have to go to Airport end or to the St.Thomas Mount post office , which is two kilometer. Nearly eight lakh people used to utilize this way . This amount to loss of time and addition of pollution

‘Hence we request the authorities to convert the existing abandoned subway into a mini vehicular subway like one in Tambaram so that smaller vehicles and two wheelers can pass through it’, said  V. Subramani,  Project Director, TTF
