VIJAYAWADA: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan exhorted government officials to work as per norms, safeguard the interests of the people and protect the laws. Do not simply go by the directions of a political leader or a political party, he said.

Addressing the people during a Janavani-Jana Sena Bharosa programme at Machilipatnam in Krishna district on Tuesday, the JS chief alleged that the YSRC leaders were looting the natural resources of AP. He faulted a section of the IAS and revenue officials for blindly following the directions of such leaders.

Pawan Kalyan said he heard the anguish of the people during his interactions with them and promised them to resolve them once the Jana Sena-Telugu Desam coalition government is voted to power.

Referring to Yerra Matti Dibbalu in Visakhapatnam, he said that the coastal areas in Machilipatnam were having naturally formed sand dunes. The YSRC leaders were looting them and this resulted in sea water entering fields and destroying  crops during cyclonic storms and high tides, he said.

He demanded that officials protect the sand dunes and help the farmers in avoiding situations of such crop loss.

The JS chief alleged that the state government was trying to cause trouble to the electricity bill readers of nearly 1.95 crore electric metres in the state by reducing their workdays without showing any alternative source of employment. He demanded that alternative employment be provided to them. He slammed the state government for roping in an agency at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore.

Pawan Kalyan flayed the YSRC government for taking away Rs 8,660 crore of funds meant for gram panchayats to enable them to take up developmental works. He asked as to who had given the right to the state government to do so.

He said that though the Centre had allotted Rs 7,500 crore under the Jala Jeevan Mission to address the water crisis for the people, the state government failed to provide a matching grant, resulting in an inability to provide lakhs of tap connections to the people. He expressed concern over the lack of burial grounds for Muslims.

Meanwhile, nearly 200 representations were submitted at the Janavani programme with a series of issues like no training for para-medical personnel, no filling up of nearly 6,500 posts of SI and police constable posts etc.
