Hyderabad: Traffic police along with representatives of Roadkraft Society, an NGO, on Thursday conducted checks against minors driving vehicles, over-loading of autorickshaws with school kids and parents and other family members coming on two-wheelers without wearing helmets to drop their children at schools.

The checks resulted the detection of half-a-dozen minors coming on motorcycles to drop their siblings and couple of minor students on 100cc scooters. Traffic cops and the NGO representatives called their parents for counselling.

The checks were held outside KV Bolarum and Valerian Grammar School at Yapral.  It was sparked off by an accident that took place recently due to the driver’s negligence, said Roadkraft Society president Malcolm Dominic Wolfe.

Trimulgherry inspector R Rajeshwar Rao said some autorickshaw drivers were bringing about 10 children in each vehicle, and even vans were over-loaded with kids.
