Karnataka: Aurad Hospital doctor who turned away pregnant woman being shielded?
Surekha Deepak was told by Dr Shilpa Shindhe to go to Bidar District Hospital as it was a complicated case.
KALABURAGI: The recent incident of a woman giving birth on road after allegedly being refused admission to the taluk hospital in Aurad, has taken a new twist following efforts being made allegedly to shield the Aurad Hospital doctor Dr Shilpa Shinde.
Accusing the Bidar district nodal officer of submitting a ‘concocted’ report to the government to save the doctor, the woman, Surekha Deepak, has in a letter to the Bidar District and Sessions Judge Sanjeev Kumar Hanchate, demanded that criminal cases be booked against the Bidar District Nodal Officer, DHO and others involved for ‘absolving’ the Aurad taluk health officer Dr Shilpa Shinde of charges.
She stated that it was wrong on the part of the government to suspend three staff members, while taking no action against the doctor. “Money and muscle power have clearly played a role in distorting our statements and submitting a concoted report to the government,” Surekha stated.
Meanwhile, following recommendation by the DHO, the district administration has suspended lab technician Mallikarjun and nurses Sandeep and Renuka. It is learnt that the administration is contemplating filing criminal cases against the staff members, who according to the family members of the woman, helped her after the delivery.
Surekha Deepak was told by Dr Shilpa Shindhe to go to Bidar District Hospital as it was a complicated case. She allegedly threatened to call police if they didn’t leave. Denied an ambulance, Surekha and her family were forced to walk out. She collapsed on the road and delivered a baby girl.
