Stop hunting for Maoist leader RK, says Varavara Rao
Earlier in the day, the Visakhapatnam Rural district police on Thursday informed the Hyderabad High Court that RK was not in its custody.
Hyderabad: Even as suspense over the whereabouts of top Maoist leader RK continued, revolutionary poet P. Varavara Rao on Thursday said that he was safe.
Talking to the media, Mr Rao said, “I demand police to stop hunting for RK and torturing tribals to know his whereabouts. I demand the police to stop combing for RK and other Maoists.”
Earlier in the day, the Visakhapatnam Rural district police on Thursday informed the Hyderabad High Court that RK was not in its custody.
Visakhapatnam Rural SP Rahul Dev Sharma filed a sworn affidavit before a division bench comprising Justices C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy and M.S.K. Jaiswal, on a petition moved by RK’s wife Sirisha, seeking a direction to the police to produce her husband before the court.
