Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palanisamy, on Saturday, announced a solatium of Rs one lakh each to the families of two fishermen who went missing in a boat accident that occurred last month off the coast of Kerala.

"I was grieved to hear the news about retrieval of a body of Andrani, the son of Xavier and Remmiyos, son of Bathros who is yet to be found following the accident in which an unidentified ship hit their boat while fishing last month", Palanisamy said in an official release in Chennai.

Six fishermen had set out to sea on a boat 'Emmanuel' from Munambam near Kochi on October 11.

Four of them drowned and two were rescued after their boat was hit by an 'unidentified ship'.

Expressing condolences to Andrani's family, Palanisamy said Rs one lakh would be given to them.

Similarly, considering the humble background of Bathros, orders have been issued to release Rs one lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, he said.
