Chennai: Days of continuous rainfall has brought life to a standstill in Tamil Nadu.
Heavy rainfall has inundated residential areas and flooded roads.
At least eight people have been killed while thousands have taken refuge in relief camps due to the flooding.
Chief Minister K Palanisamy on Thursday visited many waterlogged parts of the city and its suburbs.
The weather department has predicted rain and thundershowers over the state and neighbouring Puducherry until Monday.
Thursday's rain was Chennai's third-highest in history in a single day for November.
Marina Beach area recorded 30 cm of precipitation and parts of the beach were submerged under water, as people tried to make their way around.
