Hyderabad: Mindspace rotary to help ease congestion
The flyover costing Rs 180 crore was constructed under SRDP.
Hyderabad: In a major relief to commuters travelling in the IT corridor, the skyway and rotary at Mindspace junction will be opened to traffic on November 9.
The four-lane flyover will facilitate traffic between Inorbit Mall and Hotel Radisson and between Biodiversity junction and Hitec City. The road sees an estimated 20,000 vehicles per hour.
The flyover and rotary costing Rs 180 crore, constructed under the Strategic Road Development Plan, are the first that the GHMC has completed on time. They will be inaugurated by Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi on November 9.
A Rs 26-crore six-lane underpass at the junction was opened by minister K.T. Rama Rao in April. The GHMC is taking up these works as part of the SRDP Package IV covering a distance of 830 metres.
In addition to the underpass, the four-lane bidirectional flyover and three-lane service roads, including utility ducts and drains will result in a signal-free and conflict-free junction for traffic from the Cyber Towers side to Biodiversity side, Inorbit Mall side to Radisson side and vice-versa.
A senior GHMC official said a survey conducted by the municipal body stated that around 20,000 vehicles passed the stretch every hour and was expected to shoot up to 35,500 by 2035.
On the other side of the city, the right hand side flyover at the LB Nagar Junction is nearing completion and will be opened for commuters in January.
The GHMC official said that the corporation had completed the left hand side flyover at LB Nagar junction. About 85 per cent works was completed at the right hand side flyover. The project has been delayed due to land acquisition and statue relocation.
