Thrissur: Shop retracts offer, fined
As per the order, apart from the compensation, the promised speaker system or its cost was to be paid.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Thrissur Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed a home appliance outlet to pay compensation and deliver a speaker system promised as a gift through a newspaper advertisement. As per KP Sajeevan of Nellayi, Thrissur, he saw the advertisement about a 44 inch full HD LED TV that was on offer from the retailer, Fridge House. The ad offered a 5.1 speaker system and free DTH Connection as Onam Bakrid bonanza.
He paid Rs 34,990 in cash and returned home with the TV and DTH connection. When asked about the speaker system, the opposite party told him it was out of stock and would be delivered in two days. Mr Sajeevan once again went to the showroom to give away his old TV but was told that the stock had not arrived.
Though he went back after few days, an argument happened, and he was verbally abused. With this, he approached the forum demanding Rs 8,000 as compensation and delivery of speakers. He produced a copy of newspaper ad, but the opposite party was absent. As per the order, apart from the compensation, the promised speaker system or its cost was to be paid.
