Senior BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa addresses the media in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi: “Even if  Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes in the way, the BJP will not give up  its goal of building the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” declared senior BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa here on Monday.

Challenging the Congress to openly declare that it would re-build the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya if  elected in the coming Lok Sabha poll, he told reporters,  “The BJP has made its stand clear on construction of the Ram Mandir, and now it is the turn of Congress leaders to clarify if they are  in favour of the Babri Masjid to woo the Muslim vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.” Mr Eshwarappa, who was here to study the drought situation, ridiculed the Congress of wearing the  “soft Hindutva” garb whenever elections approached. “When elections are round the corner,  Congress leaders call themselves  Hindus. But the rest of time, they claim to be secular.  This is ridiculous. On the contrary we always call ours a Hindutva party as only  Hindutva blood flows in our veins irrespective of whether there are elections or not,” he added.

Calling former chief minister  Siddaramaiah  “an opportunist”  he claimed  he could  jump onto  the bandawagon of any party for the sake of power.

“Several times he has called me a mad cap. I too can use such language against him. But my party has not taught us  the kind of culture Mr Siddaramaiah possesses. If he continues in the same vein, I will not keep quiet,” he warned.
