TIRUPATI: For attracting young minds towards research, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced Rs 100 crore cash prize for Nobel prize winner from India.
He made this announcement while inaugurating the Children Science Congress at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam here on Wednesday.
“Unfortunately, nobody from India has got a Nobel prize (after Independence). But the people of Indian origins have got the prize working outside the country. If you do research in any lab in India and get a Nobel prize, then I am prepared to give you Rs 100 crore on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government,” he said.
Explaining further, the Chief Minister said, “I want to inspire people and now, everybody has to consider it seriously.” Later speaking at the 6th Women Science Congress he said he would be the happiest person if a woman scientist wins this cash prize.
