Cops contradict Kerala government stand on DGP TP Senkumar
The state submitted that one of the reasons for his removal from the post is Perumbavoor rape case.
Kochi: An RTI reply by the police has contradicted an earlier stand taken by the state government in Perumbavoor law student’s rape case that former DGP erred in leading the probe team.
The police has now revealed that there was nothing wrong in the probe conducted by the investigating team constituted by former DGP T.P. Senkumar.
The RTI reveals that the team constituted from April 27, 2016 which conducted the investigation of the rape and murder case had not reported any defect or deficient investigation by the team which did the investigation from April 28 to May 27 2016. To a question if any report to such matter was given in court or government, the police said 'no'.
Interestingly, in the case filed by T.P. Senkumar before Central Administrative Tribunal challenging his ouster from the post of DGP, the state had submitted that Senkumar put the state in an embarrassing situation in the probe of Perumbavoor rape and murder case and the Puttingal tragedy case. The state submitted that one of the reasons for his removal from the post is Perumbavoor rape case.
The RTI also revealed that no evidence was destroyed by the first team during the one month of investigation. It also made it clear that all the evidence collected by the first team is included in the charge sheet.
Raneshan K.A,, State Public Information Officer, DySP Administration, Aluva rural police gave the RTI to one T. Raman, a native of Kallampally, Thiruvananthapuram.
