Hyderabad: A techie and his friend were convicted by a local court for following and catcalling two girls on New Year eve at SR Nagar. The court awarded three days of jail to E. Upendra, 23, a techie in a software firm at Ameerpet, and N. Suresh, 22, a student, who were allegedly drunk at the time of offence. A CCTV footage was submitted to the court.
Police said the offenders were natives of Prakasam district and staying in SR Nagar.
SR Nagar police inspector Md. Waheeduddin said that an e-petty case was registered under the City Police Act. “The incident occurred at Bapunagar at 10.30 pm as the girls were going on a bike. The duo started following them on another bike cat calling them. One girl said that the duo tried to touch her, but they moved away,” said the Inspector. Using obscene language, they asked the girls if they wanted to go with them to celebrate New Year.
