Hyderabad: Uppal Bhagat gets building nod

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority’s town planning wing is issuing building permissions in Uppal Bhagat layout, ending confusion over who would perform the task.
Many landowners had approached the GHMC seeking building though the government had given the responsibility to the HMDA.
The job of issuing building permissions is given to municipal corporation. as the nodal agencies. To generate funds for the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation (MRDC), the government had asked the HMDA to give the permissions and transfer the funds to the MRDC.
The HMDA is expected to earn Rs 110 crore by issuing building permissions on 435 acres of land in Uppal Bhagat.
It has developed plots in the area to compensate farmers who had lost their land to the Musi riverfront development and Metro Rail project. Farmers got 1,000 sq yards of developed land for each acre that was acquired.
As many as 13,000 plots were allotted to the landowners. The HMDA is left with 1,110 plots of sizes ranging from 200 square yards to 1,000 square yards in the remaining area at Uppal Bhagat.
A senior official said the HMDA was the sole agency to issue building permissions but the power had been delegated to the GHMC due to a staff crunch.
