Kochi: Industry files plea seeking ban on hartals

Kochi: The Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry filed a petition before the High Court on Friday seeking a ban on hartals in Kerala. They have a crippling impact on industry and trade in the state, said Biju Ramesh, president of the chamber and the petitioner.

The chamber has sought the intervention of the court in view of the huge loses to the state. A bench of the chief justice is likely to consider petition on Monday. The petitioner has pointed out that the state has witnessed seven hartals in the past three months.
