L&T staffer tops CAT exam in Hyderabad
Sameer Ahmed, a resident of Yapral and L&T employee based out of Bengaluru, secured 99.88 percentile.
Hyderabad: An employee with a six-day work week topped the city in the Common Admission Test (CAT) on Friday. He joined a slew of engineers and technology students who topped the exam nationwide.
Mr Sameer Ahmed, a resident of Yapral and L&T employee based out of Bengaluru, secured 99.88 percentile. He said he works six days a week and the shift sometimes stretches to 12 hours.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Ahmed said, “I used to dedicate my Sundays for preparation. I took mock tests on the weekends and practiced at night and in the early morning.” He is eligible to join top management institutes in the country.
The results of the CAT were released by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode on Saturday afternoon.
About ten candidates have scored an overall 100 percentile. All of them are men and are from the engineering and technology background.
Another 21 candidates scored 99.99 percentile. Of these candidates, 19 are from the engineering and technology streams.
CAT 2019 was conducted on November 24 last. A total of 2,09,926 candidates had appeared for the examination, which was conducted at 376 centres across 156 cities.
The IIMs will now release their shortlists for subsequent admission processes based on, among other things, the CAT 2019 scores. More than 115 non-IIM institutions will also use the CAT scores this year for admission into their management programmes.
