Kochi: 8 teams winners at Hackathon

A total of 270 students from 14 states of India participated.

Kochi: Eight teams from Pune, Kanpur, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad and Delhi emerged winners out of the 32 teams from 14 states who took part in the 3rd edition of the Smart India Hackathon organised by the Union Human Resources Development Department and AICTE on Sunday and Monday at Jai Bharat Engineering College, Perumbavoor, Kerala. Pune had three winner teams.

The college was among 48 selected nodal centers for the event across the country. A total of 270 students from 14 states of India participated in the hothead work at the college.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed the students who assembled for the 36 hour hackathon, through video conferencing on Sunday. The task of students included solving issues related to government institutions and leading companies.

The eight teams came out with best solutions for the eight business problems presented before them. Software solutions were given to the problems of Swiss-Swedish multinational ABB, Manipal Health Enterprises and Small and Medium Enterprises. Cusat Vice-Chancellor Dr R Sasidharan presented trophies to the winners. The winners together secured a cash prize of '5 lakh.
