Kozhikode wilts under heat
Scorching temperature to continue for next two days.
KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode district that is already wilting under blistering heat will have the same condition for the next two days, the Indian Meteorology Department says.
The district has been experiencing 37 degree Celsius temperature for the last two days and has slightly come down to 34 degree Celsius, which may soar in the coming days.
With the high temperature, many places are reeling under acute shortage of drinking water, making the situation worse.
The district collector, Sambasiva Rao, urged people to take enough precautions against sunburns and heat-related issues.
Health officials said that already cases of sunburn had started reporting from various parts of the district and hence people should try to stay indoors at least during the peak time.Mr Rao directed rescheduling of working hours of employees providing a resting period between 12 pm to 3 pm.
According to the health department officials, the older people, construction workers, athletes and children are more prone to sunstrokes, and hence they must take extra precautions.
