Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the TS and AP governments to prepare action plans to regulate drunken driving and place the reports before it. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice P. Naveen Rao was dealing with a suo motu case based on news reports connected to the ghastly road accident which occurred on March 15, 2016, at Gollapudi in Vijayawada wherein four students of the Osmania Medical College were killed, and several grievously injured due to alleged rash, negligent and drunken driving by the driver of the vehicle they were travelling in.

Counsel for TS A. Sanjeev Kumar told the court that the government has constituted road safety wing and the licence of Dhanunjay Travels, the travel agency, has been cancelled. He said that the government was examining the issue of providing breath-analysers to officers to check vehicles on highways across the state.

While expressing displeasure at counsels from AP not being present during the hearing, the bench said the law officers of the AP were not showing any respect towards the court. The case was adjourned till after summer vacation.
