She inspected the whole stretch of the corridor and directed officials to penalise the contractor – RNS Infrastructure Ltd for their failure to maintain quality while building footpaths. It was found that they lacked drains and the overall work was of poor quality.

The 17.5-km stretch, starting from Indiranagar 100 feet Road Junction goes up to Channasandra and passes through Hope Farm. The total cost of the project is Rs 147 crore and comprises two underpasses and one flyover.

"Once this signal corridor is completed it will provide relief to those travelling on Old Madras Road. The project could not take off as there were hurdles relating to land acquisition. But now the problems have been resolved and the construction of under pass near Hope farm will be completed soon," she said.

Tender process has been completed to build underpass at Big Bazaar junction. Once the two under passes - Hope Farm and Big Bazaar is completed then works relating to construction of flyover at Hoodi junction will be taken up, Ms Padmavathi said.
