Chennai: Soap actor husband ends life
Nandhini's family was opposed to the alliance since Karthikeyan's first wife Vennila committed suicide two years ago,†sources revealed.
Chennai: The husband of television soap actress 'Myna' Nandhini committed suicide on Monday evening by consuming poison at a lodge in Virugambakkam. He left behind three suicide notes. In one of the notes, the deceased - Karthikeyan (39), a fitness trainer and former 'Mr. Madras' had held his father-in-law Rajendran as accountable for his death.
Karthikeyan checked into his exclusive room in a lodge on Ponniyamman Koil Street, Vadapalani on Monday morning after informing his mother Shanthi that he would come home later. He neither came home for lunch nor did he answer calls to his mobile phone from his anxious mother. Shanthi, with the help of lodge staff and cops, broke into the room since repeated knocking did not elicit any response from him. He was found dead, frothing from his mouth, on Monday evening.
He had reportedly consumed a soft drink laced with a poison. Sources said he got married to Nandhini (32), who is acting in a couple of TV soaps being telecast by a private television channel, on June 6, 2016.
“After falling in love, the couple took their relationship forward despite opposition from the girl's side. Nandhini's family was opposed to the alliance since Karthikeyan's first wife Vennila committed suicide two years ago,” sources revealed.
“Following their wedding, the couple moved to a separate apartment. Since Nandhini's working hours were long, Karthikeyan began complaining about it. This led to wordy altercations, which led to Nandhini walking out on him two months into the marriage”, a police official said.
He had made a last ditch effort to reconcile with his wife on Sunday. As it failed, he got depressed, and took the drastic step. In his note, he had requested his sister Ramya to bury him next to where his former wife Vennila had been laid to rest.
