Hyderabad: Funds of Rs 7 crore remained unused by the Telangana Aids Control Society (TACS) in 2016, because they did not follow up with non-governmental organisations to track new cases of HIV/AIDS.
The department has not been paying NGOs regularly, because they always claimed that there was a shortage of funds.
Senior officers of TACS explained, “There has been a shortage of funds for the past two years. Money is released by the Central Government in three quarters. In 2015, money was released in two quarters only.”
