Hyderabad: A 20-year-old youth from Phoolbagh in Chandrayangutta accidentally drowned in Jalpally Pedda Cheruvu on Tuesday when he and his friend came to have a swim in the lake. The victim, Syed Amer, was working as a mobile phone technician.

Amer was second among the six children of his family. After his father’s death he started working and was supporting the family along with his elder brother. He was working at a mobile phone store owned by his uncle Mujahideen in Bandlaguda.

On Tuesday, he and his colleague Ibrahim came to the lake on their bike to relax. Both knew swimming. “Amer entered the lake and started swimming and Ibrahim was preparing to enter the water. Meanwhile, Amer who went into the deep waters started drowning. Ibrahim saw this and cried for help but since there was no one around he did not get help," inspector Lakshmikanth Reddy said.  The spot where Amer drowned is a few meters close to the warning board. The men could have seen the board before entering the lake. Expert swimmers from Moinabad were rushed to the lake to recover Amer's body and it took them about three hours to do the job. A suspicious death case was registered.
