Security tightened for Kochi institutions
Officials from the central intelligence bureau, state intelligence, Navy, CISF and city special branch among others attended the parleys.
Kochi: The Kochi city police has initiated measures to tighten security of vital institutions, including commercial establishments, in the state’s commercial capital following inputs from intelligence agencies of terror threats across the country.
The measure follows a high-level meet, presided by commissioner S. Surendran and attended by representatives of key institutions, was held here on Thursday. Officials from the central intelligence bureau, state intelligence, Navy, CISF and city special branch among others attended the parleys.
The meeting analysed the overall security scenario and collected suggestions of representatives on how to strengthen the security network, especially prompt reaction by security agencies in the event of a security threat.
“The commissioner briefed them on the need for modern security systems at the centres. He directed them to repair all CCTV defunct cameras at the earliest and put the institutions under round- the-clock monitoring,” an official said. Meetings of general managers and chief security officers of the institutions will be held at regular intervals to evaluate security situation.
“The aim is to make Kochi city a secure one. We’ve assured them to provide all security services expected from us at minimal time,” said Mr Surendran.
Representatives from institutions such as IOC, BPCL, HPC and IRE among others attended the meet.
