Tirupati: Asthanam of Lord Govindaraja Swamy held

Tirupati: As part of the ongoing 516th Vardanthi of saint poet Tallapaka Annamacharya, the holy ritual of Asthanam of Lord Govindaraja Swamy was observed on Thursday morning at Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati. As part of the tradition, earlier the utsava murthies (idols) of Lord Govindaraja Swamy and his consorts were brought in a procession from the temple to Annamacharya Kalamandiram to participate in the Vardanthi celebrations. After performing the ritual Asthanam, the utsava idols were returned to the temple in a procession.

Meanwhile, TTD has been planning to organise grand Ugadi celebrations in all the local temples under its fold on April 6 heralding Sri Vikari Nama Samvatsaram (Telugu New Year - Ugadi).

Special pujas will be performed in the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple, Tiruchanoor, Sri Govindaraja temple and Sri Govindaraja Swamy temples at Tirupati.
