Telangana: Cops lash out at Raghunandan for calling DGP Bihar goonda'
The IPS Association requested the Legislative Assembly Speaker to take disciplinary action against Raghunandan
Hyderabad: The IPS Association of Telangana condemned an “irresponsible and highly derogatory” comment made by BJP MLA M. Raghunandan Rao against DGP Anjani Kumar on Wednesday, over the arrest of Bandi Sanjay in question with the SSC question paper leak.
The association requested the Legislative Assembly Speaker to take disciplinary action against Raghunandan.
In a media statement on Wednesday, the association’s joint secretary and DIG, B. Sumathi, said, “Such irresponsible statement from a legislator and use of unparliamentary language against a senior government functionary is highly unbecoming and unhealthy in a democratic set up.”
“Further, such disparaging remarks are highly demoralising for the entire police force of Telangana, which is working day and night for ensuring safety and security of public and maintaining law and order,” she said.
The Telangana State Police Officers’ Association also condemned the allegedly “derogatory” comment.
Referring to Raghunandan’s alleged comment of ‘Don't bring Bihar's goonda raj in Telangana. Don't implement legislations made by Bihar goonda Anjani Kumar’, association president Y. Gopi Reddy rapped the leader, saying that he can approach court over any issue with the arrest procedure, but not use derogatory language.
The association demanded Raghunandan tender a public apology to the DGP and sought action from the Assembly Speaker.
