Telangana: Thunderstorm destroys nearly 1,250 electric poles
The city power distribution body has incurred an expenditure of around Rs 5 to Rs 8 lakh due to the disrupted power lines.
Hyderabad: The thunderstorm that hit Telangana on Thursday has destroyed 1,250 electrical poles and affected power supply throughout the state. Over 112 sub stations spread over 16 districts of TS were also damaged further affecting supplies across various districts. The city power distribution body has incurred an expenditure of around Rs 5 to Rs 8 lakh due to the disrupted power lines.
Over 112 uprooted trees disturbed the electric lines. Following the overall damage reported on Thursday, a meeting was held by the Telangana Southern and Northern Power Distribution Company Limited’s CMDs to review reports of snapped power lines.
Power Minister Mr G. Jagadish Reddy cautioned the authorities to restore power supply only after physical inspection of all affected areas. A special control room has also been set up and people can contact it by calling on 7382072104, 7382072106 and 7382071574.
