Residents block GAIL work
The people alleged that GAIL authorities even do not seek the permission of gram panchayat before digging the road.
Kozhikode: Residents at Mudaven-theri near Nadapuram along with gram panchayat officials blocked the pipe-laying work of GAIL on Saturday. It was the non-repair of road which was dig out for laying the pipe which provoked the people. The people alleged that GAIL authorities even do not seek the permission of gram panchayat before digging the road.
Nadapuram gram panchayat vice president Sindhu Rayaroth and other members reached the spot and they rallied behind the residents. People alleged that the potholes created on road as a result of the pipe-laying work have now turned into water pools.
The panchayat vice president and members held a talk with GAIL officers and it was decided to stall the pipe laying work.
“The pipe laying work would be stopped for two days. Mean-while, GAIL will repair the damaged roads," said Sindhu Rayaroth.
Valappil Kunjammad, P. Shahina and P.P Suresh Kumar also represented the residents in the talk.
In the neighbouring gram panchayat of Thuneri also, there was complaint about GAIL's apathy in repairing the road which they digged out for their work.
