Telangana to build mosque as replacement
If they insisted on construction of the mosque at the same place, the government would comply.
Hyderabad: Home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Saturday said the state government would construct the new mosque on government land close to where an abandoned mosque in Amberpet had been demolished.
Speaking with the media persons at Haj House, Mr Ali said the person occupying the structure had received Rs 2.5 crore as compensation from the GHMC by claiming to be the owner. Asked why the mosque could not be rebuilt at the same place, he said the master plan did not allow it.
He pointed out that the mosque was abandoned and prayers were not performed there. He said he would interact with religious scholars and locals. If they insisted on construction of the mosque at the same place, the government would comply.
Wakf activist Osman Mohammed Khan said the government should take action against GHMC officials who demolished the mosque and paid compensation without verifying the documents.
