Sudden heavy rains paralyze traffic in several areas of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Sudden rains lashed several parts in the city, especially on the western side, on Thursday, halting traffic movement on major thoroughfares. The rains stated at 9.30 pm and many main roads and a number of colonies were quickly waterlogged.

There was no rain in Uppal where the IPL cricket match went off smoothly, Kolkata Knight Riders beating Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Heavy rains lashed Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Yousufguda, Venkatgiri, SR Nagar, Srinagar Colony, Yellareddyguda, Towlichowki, Shaikpet, Nanalnagar, Asifnagar and Mehdipatnam. Traffic moved as a snail’s pace in these areas and the spillover effect was felt at Masab Tank, Rajendranagar, Langar Houz, Asifnagar, Bazaar Ghat Aghapura, Nampally, Mallapally, MJ Market and Afzalgunj.

Rain and thunderstorms which lashed Manikonda,, Kondapur, Madhapur, Shaikpet, Mehidipatnam and Attapur later spread to Khairatabad, Moosapet, Borabanda, Kukatpally, Ameerpet, Sanathnagar, Erragadda, Nampally and Balanagar.

The roads had the knee high water, the rain continuously lashed for more than an hour.
