Hyderabad High Court for report on Durgam Cheruvu
The bench told the respondent authorities to file the report within two weeks.
Hyderabad: Expressing dismay at the state of Durgam Cheruvu in the city, a division bench of the Hyderabad High Court has directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority to submit a detailed report on illegal constructions in and around the lake.
A division bench comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice A. Shankar Narayana was dealing with a suo motu case based on newspaper reports on the state of the lake and also another petition by Captain J. Rama Rao challenging the failure of the authorities to protect it from pollution. The bench told the respondent authorities to file the report within two weeks, explaining the number of structures that have come up in the Full Tank Level of the lake and also constructions that are causing pollution and obstructing free flow of rainwater into it.
