The modified election notification is most likely to be issued on June 15.
Hyderabad: There will be no NOTA (none of the above) option in the ballot paper in the next Presidential election. The Election Commission is also the authoritative body to conduct elections for the highest chairs in the country, that of the President and Vice-President. For the Presidential election, all the elected Members of Parliament and Assemblies are the registered voters. This modified election notification is most likely to be issued on June 15.
NOTA option first became operational in 2013, where the voter had the option of rejecting all the candidates listed in the ballot paper and register their negative vote through electronic voting machines (EVMs) and ballot papers.
This is the first Presidential election after the NOTA ruling of 2013. At the workshop, ARO, Dr. S. Raja Sadaram who is the Telangana Legislature secretary, raised a query about the NOTA status in the Presidential election. The Election Commission confirmed its absence, though no official reasons were stated.
