Puducherry: Political parties and different organisations in Puducherry have called for a dawn to dusk bandh on July 8 to condemn the nomination of three BJP members to the territorial assembly by the Central government allegedly following the direction of Lt Governor Kiran Bedi.

The meeting alleged that BJP is trying to grab power in the Union Territory through 'back door' with the support of the Lt Governor.
Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi joining hands with the BJP and nominating three members to the Puducherry Assembly need to be condemned strongly, the resolution said.
The Union government issued an order on Monday nominating BJP Puducherry unit president V. Saminathan, treasurer K. G. Shankar and a private school chairman Selvaganapathy to the legislative assembly following which political parties joined hands with ruling Congress party against the Central government and Ms Bedi.
Posters condemning Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi on the issue of nominating members to the territorial assembly from the BJP, appeared all over the town.
Lt Governor Kiran Bedi administered the oath to three members in a small function at Raj Nivas on Tuesday evening . Chief Minister and the cabinet colleagues were not present in the function.
