Vijayawada: New sand policy likely from September 2
The stockyards will have CCTV cameras along with weighing machines.
VIJAYAWADA: New Sand Policy in the state is expected to come into effect from September 2. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had reviewed the new Sand Policy with the officials concerned. Sand will be supplied through AP Mineral Development Corporation.
Talking to the officials concerned, Mr Jagan said that the New Sand Policy should ensure environment protection and bring revenue to the government in a transparent manner. He said that stock yards should be established at all the sand reaches and additional stockyards need to be set up in towns and cities. Receipts need to be issued even while transporting sand from the reaches to the stockyards.
The stockyards will have CCTV cameras along with weighing machines. He said that vehicles that transport sand from reaches and stockyards will have GPS gadgets fitted to track their movements, to check discrepancies and malfunctioning by sand mafia. He ordered to take strong action towards the sand mafia.
APMDC will develop an app and portal for the benefit of sand users. Within two months, new sand reaches will be identified as per the demand for sand.
Transportation will be strengthened so that sand will be available whenever required.
