Gurdaspur: Movement of civilians from dusk to dawn along the international border with Pakistan in the district was banned from Friday, a senior district official said.
District Magistrate Pardeep Sabharwal said, "Any type of movement of civilians within the 500 meters of fencing and 1000 meters of the Indo-Pak border has been banned from 8 PM to 5 AM."
However, the ban would not apply on the Army, BSF, CRPF, Home Guard and Centre Excise and Taxation staff which were deployed on the border for special duty, he said.
The ban would remain in force till October 3, he said. The reason for banning the civilian movement along the border has not been specified.
