Post Sasikala row, Bengaluru Central Jail gets IPS head

Bengaluru: The state government on Friday transferred 21 IPS officers and for the first time it has posted an IPS officer as Chief Superintendent of Bengaluru Central Jail at Parappana Agrahara, which was recently in news for all the wrong reasons.
Nikham Prakash Amrit, an IPS officer of 2012 batch, who was previously Superintendent of Police of Bidar District, has been posted as Chief Superintendent of Prisons, Bengaluru Central Jail.
The state government’s move has even surprised the prison department staff, who were clueless about such a step. Allegations of irregularities and corruption inside the prison department, particularly Parappana Agrahara central prison, had recently kicked up a media storm.
The city has got four new DCPs. Shantharaju K.M., who was DCP Law & Order in Mangaluru City, has been posted as DCP (Intelligence), while C.K. Baba, who was SP, BMTF, is posted as DCP (VVIP Security). SP Girish S, who was with the Anti Corruption Bureau, is now DCP (North-East) and Shivakumar T. P, who was SP, CHESCOM, Mysuru, has been posted as DCP Traffic (West).
In addition, Haveri district SP C. Vamsi Krishna has been posted as Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Bengaluru.
