Telangana: Secretariat staff not keen on incentive plan

Hyderabad: Secretariat staff has not shown interest in applying for the employee incentive scheme. The government has received 920 applications from its 3.5-lakh strong workforce.
Among those who applied, 49 were from the Secretariat. Another 127 staff working in heads of department offices applied, and the remaining 744 applications came from the districts. The scheme offers 132 cash incentives to various cadres; 12 among them will be selected for state-level awards. The state-level winner will get a prize of '5 lakh, the runner-up '3 lakh and the third ranker Rs 2 lakh.
In Group-I, there were 17 employees from the Secretariat, 62 from HoD offices and 197 from the districts. In Group-II, there were 20 applicants from the Secretariat, 26 from HoD offices and 225 from the districts. In Group-III, there were eight applications from the Secretariat, 29 from HoD offices and 228 from districts.
Asked about the dismal response from the Secretariat, an employees association leader said the last date, July 31, coincided with the last date to file Income Tax returns which kept the staff busy. They said many district staff were unable to apply due to poor Internet connectivity.
