Puducherry: It is unfortunate that the Speaker did not allot seating arrangements to three nominated MLAs in the House, said Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi here on Friday.

"Union Government had nominated three members to the Territorial Assembly as per the law and it is 'unfortunate' that the Speaker is not allotting seats for them in the house'', said Ms Bedi.

The Speaker said that the demands of the members, including local unit president of BJP V. Saminathan, party treasurer K.G. Shankar and educationist and party sympathiser S. Selva Ganapathy who was sworn in by LG Kiran Bedi, cannot be approved as they are not recognised as members of the Legislative Assembly as per the records in the Assembly Secretariat.

The Lt Governor said that an issue has been created unnecessarily, which should have been avoided, adding that an amicable settlement to the issue should be found.
