Man Jumps into Canal, Hangs onto Branch Entire Night
Hyderabad: A 35-year-old private school teacher, who jumped into the Palair canal in Khammam on Friday night after a domestic quarrel, was saved by a tree branch, police said. He clung to a branch the entire night before he could be rescued on Saturday morning at the Mini Hydel Power Station in Palair.
The teacher, T. Santosh, works at a private school in Hyderabad. While he could not swim, he jumped into the canal, but immediately regretted it. He noticed a tree branch and held on to it the entire night, the police said. He was rescued by locals on Saturday morning and shifted to a hospital for treatment.
The police said that while they did not register a case, the teacher was counselled in his family members’ presence.
