Bengaluru: High Court lawyer Amrutesh N.P. has written to the police commissioner T Suneel Kumar requesting him to issue a second summons notice to the BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa in a kidnapping case involving his personal assistant Santosh.

Amrutesh has written in the letter that Mr Yeddyurappa was intentionally keeping himself away from the ongoing investigation and not cooperating with the police officer investigating the kidnapping attempt on BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa’s personal assistant Vinay.

This he said referring to the summon issued to him by the Malleswaram ACP A.R. Badiger on September 22 in which Mr Yeddyurappa was asked to appear before the investigating officer on September 28, which Mr Yeddyurappa skipped citing his age.

The lawyer pointed in the letter that Mr Yeddyurappa was active in politics even at this age and participating in all the party functions. “The man who can travel hundreds of kilometres to attend party programmes is saying that he cannot appear before the investigating officer, whose office is hardly 6-7 kilometres from his house. He is misusing his political power and trying to shield his PA,” he wrote.

Amrutesh has urged the police commissioner to issue fresh summon and make it mandatory for Mr Yeddyurappa to appear before IO in person to assist the investigation process.
