Polavaram only boon for Chandrababu Naidu: PCC

Raghuveera advises Naidu not to claim credit for the project.

Vijayawada: APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy criticised Polavaram project and said it was not a boon but gift of commissions to the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Mr Raghuveera Reddy said Polavaram is a pet project of the Congress and suggested Mr Naidu stop boasting and making false commitments. Mr Raghuveera demanded to complete the project at any cost by 2018. If not the ruling TD and its ally BJP do not deserve to contest in 2019 General elections for both Parliament and Assembly constituencies. He reminded  that 90 per cent permissions for the project and 32 per cent works was completed for Polavaram Project during Congress reign.

Mr Raghuveera said that if Congress had come into power in 2014, the project would have been completed and water to Krishna river pumped through gravity instead of lifting from Pattiseema.

Mr Raghuveera also shared  the experts observation that the project might  remain incomplete if the Union government provides insufficient funds. He said Mr Naidu failed to bring in funds for the project . The estimate for the project is Rs 58,319 crore while the Union government had given only Rs 4,328 crore for the fast 3 years.
