Hyderabad: In an online Twitter session on Thursday, Minister K.T. Rama Rao said citizens will have to bear up with bad roads for some more time but the government will find a permanent solution. About footpaths in the city, he said, “I don't pat myself for FOBs or footpaths as there is a long way to go.”

Responding to a query on the Strategic Road Development Project (SRDP), Mr Rao said, “SRDP is a continuous process, there are no phases. More than 10,000 crore works are underway. We have lot more to do in Hyderabad. If I am elected again for next three years 50000 crore rupees will be allocated from state budget which will be used for sewerage system and roads in Hyderabad.”

About preferential treatment for west zone of Hitec City, Mr Rao said, “Hitec City gets prominence because lot of celebrities and prominent people visit it. You really want to showcase the best, but there is no preferential treatment.”

He said that the best thing about Hyderabad is that nobody feels like a stranger. “It has old world charm and new age vibrancy. With improvements in amenities here, next 10 years, Hyderabad will become a name to reckon with,” he said.

Mr Rao added, "We don't want to cause inconvenience to Hyderabadis through road digging and construction. We are quickest in delivering projects; consider the pace at which flyovers are being done is faster than what is being done in past,” and added that he is the only minister who has announced dates for SRDP project.
